I had a crush on my husband, and he didn’t even know I existed… β
Spoiler Alert: Us in 2008 in Cuba, two weeks after we left our long-term partners for each other
In my first year of University, I had a crush on my husband in the way only a 17-year-old girl can.
I had moved from a very small town in New Brunswick and had just moved to the big city of Toronto for my major. β He was in fourth year of the same program. We were a really small group (only 16 people were admitted every year).
He had no idea I existed.
And I was DEVASTATED, in the way only a 17-year-old girl can be when her crush doesn’t like her back.β β Fast forward 8 years later and I am engaged to someone else. I get hired to work at the same theatre company as my husband.
On the first night of rehearsals, I was like, “I had a crush on you!”
Fast forward another year and I have left my fiance, he left his long-term partner, and we were madly in love. (Email me if you want to full whirlwind story, because it’s a good one π)
We’ve been together for 16 years…β β βWhat does this have to do with marketing?
My future husband didn’t know I existed because I didn’t TELL HIM I existed. I sat in the background pining over him while I watched him date other girls.
Your future clients don’t know what you have to offer because YOU AREN’T TELLING THEM. β βYou don’t have to sit in the background, pining over your ideal clients, hoping they notice you, and being devastated when they don’t, wondering what you did wrong.
Tell people that you have a crush on them. Tell people that you have THE solution to their problem.
If they don’t know, how are they going to fall in love with you? ππ
